Dubuque-based alternative country artist Elizabeth Mary will release her latest single, “Sweatpants and Wine,” off of her upcoming debut album, “Meet Me in Madison.”
The single will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon Music beginning on Friday, June 14.
She will celebrate the release with a performance at The Yardarm, 1201 Shiras Ave. Extension, at 8 p.m. Friday, with the local band Tightrope.
Elizabeth Mary wrote her first song, “I Have a Dream,” at age 10 and has been pursuing that dream ever since.
Raised on a dairy farm in rural Dubuque County, she performed her first shows to herds of disinterested cattle and cornfields, getting her first taste of performing in local choirs and talent shows throughout the community.
At 22, she went on to become the lead singer for the local band Zero 2 Sixty, with which she performed for eight years at local venues and festivals.
In April 2018, Elizabeth Mary recorded and released her six-track debut EP, “Dance with the Fear.” Her single, “Mirror, Mirror,” was picked up by regional radio and began streaming nationwide.
In September 2018, Elizabeth Mary opened for country artist Collin Raye and released the single, “Breathe in Girl.” Additional performances have seen her opening for regional and national artists such as Jake McVey and The Bellamy Brothers, and playing large festivals.
She will open for Clint Black and BlackHawk at America’s River Festival at the Port of Dubuque on Friday, June 21.
“Meet Me in Madison” is due for release in the fall.
