Opening Doors, a Dubuque nonprofit serving women and children experiencing homelessness in the community, is working with McGrath Hyundai and McGrath Used Car Superstore of Dubuque to purchase a vehicle to provide safe transportation to the families it supports.

Through Sunday, March 17, local businesses and residents can donate toward the purchase price of a 2018 Grand Caravan. McGrath has offered a $5,000 match to the fundraising.

“There is nothing more important than community,” said Trevor Arnold, general manager of McGrath Hyundai Dubuque, in a press release. “We are very lucky to have a leadership team at McGrath that recognizes how important it is for businesses to step up and help. Dubuque has been very good to us, and we are happy to give back. Opening Doors is such an important service in Dubuque. We are committed to getting them their new vehicle.”

Opening Doors will be replacing a 2004 vehicle that is no longer reliable.

“We are so grateful that McGrath stepped forward to assist us in this immediate need,” said Carol Gebhart, executive director for Opening Doors, in a press release. “Our 2004 van is mechanically unreliable, some seat belts and doors not working; and we are really in dire straits for safe transportation. Large expenses can really overwhelm a nonprofit, so we are so thankful for everyone who will donate toward this purchase.”
