LANCASTER, Wis. — Lancaster’s pool project received a $50,000 boost from a local bank this week.

Peoples State Bank officials presented the donation to city officials. It will support the addition of recreational amenities at the new Lancaster Municipal Pool, the construction of which is expected to begin in August and conclude in time for the 2020 swimming season.

City Council members awarded a $2.4 million contract for the work including the pool vessel, but the city aims to raise $479,000 to finance pool equipment, such as slides, competition equipment and shade features.

City Administrator David Carlson said the city is about halfway to its fundraising goal. The city previously said Friday, June 15, was the deadline for “donations to add pool amenities for next year.”

Recently, Lancaster Community Fund announced that it will match personal donations made up to $94,000, and a private donor has committed to providing $68,000 for the cost of installing diving boards. TRICOR Insurance also donated $25,000.

Council members will determine which amenities will be included in the project, based on the amount of contributions the city receives.

Donations can be made payable to City of Lancaster Pool, 206 S. Madison St., Lancaster, Wis. 53813. For more information, call 608-723-3700.
