PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — A pair of rising country music stars will headline University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Welcome Back concert later this year.
Mitchell Tenpenny and Chris Lane will perform on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, at Williams Fieldhouse. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the concert starts at 7 p.m.
“The idea really is, let’s put on an event that is great for the town, that is great for the area but is also great for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville student body,” said David Nevins, director of campus activities.
Tenpenny’s single “Drunk Me” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in December, the same month he released his first major label album, “Telling All My Secrets.”
Lane reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart in 2016 with his song “Fix.” Last year, his song “Take Back Home Girl,” featuring Tori Kelly, peaked at No. 8, and his single “I Don’t Know About You” continues to climb and was at No. 26 last week.
Tickets for the concert can be bought at the university’s box office, at tickets.uwplatt.edu or by calling 608-342-1298. The event is open to the general public, as well as to local college students.
Tickets prices start at $25 for students and $30 for the general public through July 14. Prices will increase on July 15.
In addition to UW-P students, those enrolled at University of Dubuque, Loras College, Clarke University, Northeast Iowa Community College and Southwest Wisconsin Technical College also can buy tickets at student rates.
