Darlington resident re-elected to serve on state group’s board

DARLINGTON, Wis. — A Darlington resident recently was re-elected to serve on the Wisconsin Pork Association Board of Directors.

Christina Meylor, of Darlington, was one of three people elected to a three-year term on the nine-person board, according to a press release. The voting occurred at the association’s recent annual meeting.

Boots in the Barn program to be held at Bernard farm

BERNARD, Iowa — A continuation of the Boots in the Barn program will be offered to women dairy and beef producers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Mark and Karen Hosch Farm, 2374 Country Road D61.

The session will focus on vaccine handling and management.

Dr. Jennifer Hosch, of Tri-Vet Associates, and Dr. Brent Meyer, technical services veterinarian for Merck Animal Health, are scheduled to discuss vaccine management, including handling in the heat of the summer and cold of winter, reading labels and keeping records to align with the Beef Quality Assurance program.

Applications for Century, Heritage Farm Program being accepted

DES MOINES — Eligible Iowa farm owners interested in becoming eligible for the 2019 Century and Heritage Farm Program must apply by Saturday, June 1.

The program is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.

It recognizes Iowa families who have owned their farm for 100 years in the case of Century Farms, and 150 years for Heritage Farms.
