The inaugural “Dubuque Light of Hope” breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Grand River Center.

The event benefits the Court Appointed Special Advocate program. The CASA program advocates for abused and neglected children who have been removed from homes and placed into foster care, according to a press release.

The event is free, but contributions to the CASA program will be accepted.

Gary Kroeger, formerly of “Saturday Night Live,” will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Speakers will include Anderson Sainci, Dubuque Community School Board; CASA advocate and volunteer Isa O’Hara; Nancy Van Milligen, Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque president and CEO; and Gary Dolphin, voice of the Hawkeyes.
