A community fund is offering a boost to fundraising efforts for add-ons for Lancaster’s new pool.

The city recently announced that Lancaster Community Fund will match personal donations made up to $94,000.

Common Council members in April awarded a nearly $2.4 million contract to build a new pool at Memorial Park. Two diving boards were included because the city has a verbal commitment from a private donor to cover their $68,000 cost.

The city’s announcement states that Friday, June 15, is the deadline for “donations to add pool amenities for next year.”

“While the city is taking care of the costs for the base pool vessel, all of the extra things like slides, competition equipment, shade features and water features in the young child area are contingent upon the amount of money we raise as a community,” the announcement stated.

Donations can be made payable to City of Lancaster Pool, 206 S. Madison St., Lancaster, Wis. 53813.

Construction on the new pool is expected to begin in August and be finished in time for the 2020 swimming season. The current pool was built in the 1930s and last had major renovations and new piping installed in 1971.
