FAYETTE, Wis. — Authorities said a Mineral Point man was arrested early Thursday for driving while intoxicated for the third time.

Edward D. Thompson, 33, was taken to Lafayette County Jail in Darlington, where he was booked and “released to a responsible party,” according to the county sheriff’s department.

A press release states that sheriff’s department deputies and emergency medical responders were dispatched to Lafayette County D in Fayette Township at about 4 a.m. Thursday to perform a welfare check. That led to Thompson’s arrest.

He also was cited with improper parking on a roadway.
