Because of the cold weather, the march portion of the Dubuque branch of the NAACP’s Martin Luther King tribute today has been abbreviated.

Participants are asked to gather at 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of White and 15th streets for a quick march to the nearby Steeple Square. The tribute will begin at 1 p.m.

Jacqueline Hunter, director of Dubuque’s Multicultural Family Center, will provide the keynote address.

The tribute is a precursor to the 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration, which will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Grand River Center. Tickets to Monday’s event are $30.
