BASKETBALL

Cascade boys camp — Cascade will host boys camps July 16-19 at the high school gym. Area players entering grades 2-5 will play from 8:30-10:30 a.m.; players in grades 6-9 play from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and the high school open gym begins at 2 p.m. Cost is $45, with a $15 discount for each additional camper in a family. Cascade girls camps — Cascade will host several girls basketball camps this summer, including a shooting and ballhandling camp on June 27-28, an offensive skills camp on July 8-9, and a competition camp with shooting contests and games on July 12. Senior girls camp — The Dubuque Senior girls basketball program is running youth camps July 29-July 31. The camps are open to all 3-8 graders and will focus on developing skills for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The 3-5 grade camp will run from 9-11 a.m. and the 6-8 grade camp will follow from 3-5 p.m. The cost of the camp is $38. Hempstead boys camps — The Dubuque Hempstead boys basketball program will offer the following camps:

The 8th-9th grade camp is June 17-18 from 3-5 p.m. at Moody Gym. Cost is $50.

The Youth Camp is for any player going into grades 3-7 and runs July 1-3 from 9:15-11:30 a.m. at Moody Gym. Cost is $50.

The Hempstead Summer Skills Development Program is for any player going into grades 8-12 and runs throughout the summer on Mondays (8:45-9:45 a.m.), Wednesdays (7:30-8:30 a.m.) and Fridays (8:45-9:45 a.m.) starting on June 10 at Moody Gym. There is no cost for the program.

Bobcat Boys Camp — The Bobcat Boys Basketball Camp, which is open to all area boys in grades 2-8 for the 2019-20 school year, will take place June 17-20 at the Western Dubuque High School Gym. The camp runs from 8-10:30 a.m. The focus will be on fun and fundamentals for all positions. Cost is $50 per camper paid upon registration.

UD Shooting Camp — The University of Dubuque men’s basketball team will host a Shooting Camp for boys entering grades 3-8. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 17-19. Cost of the camp is $90 and each participant will receive a T-shirt, free admission to all 2019-2020 home games, and lunch each day. Camp is limited to the first 100 participants. UD Team Camp — The University of Dubuque men’s basketball team will host the Tri-State Shootout for varsity and junior varsity high school boys on Sunday, June 23. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. Cost for the shootout is $225 per team or $425 if bringing both varsity and junior varsity teams. Wahlert girls camp — The Little Eagles Girls Fundamental Camp will run June 18-July 11, (July 3 instead of July 4) at Wahlert for $50. Incoming 3rd-5th graders play from 9-10:15 a.m., and incoming 6th-8th graders play 10:15-11:30 a.m.

DISC GOLF

Dubuque Clinic — The Dubuque Disc Golf Clinic will take place from 9-11 a.m. today and from 1-3 p.m. on July 13 at Swiss Valley Nature Center. Dubuque Disc Golf Club will cover the basics of disc golf, different discs, throwing techniques, and the history of disc golf. Dubuque County Conservation manages disc golf courses at Swiss Valley Park, New Wine Park and soon to be a course at Proving Grounds Recreation Area.

Clarke Camps — Clarke University’s football program will host a pair of camps this summer at the R.C. Wahlert Sports Complex on the college campus for 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 high school graduates. An O-Line/D-Line Pride Camp will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on July 26. An Offense/Defense Skill Pride Camp is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. on July 27.

John Penning 5K — The Dubuque Hempstead girls cross country team is hosting the fourth annual John Penning 5K cross country race at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 at the Dubuque Soccer Complex. Running Class — Dubuque Physical Therapy will be offering a three-session running class for distance runners of all ages. Golden Eagles Camps — The Golden Eagles Camps, directed by former Wahlert coach Jim Fuerstenberg, will take place in June and July at the Bernie O’Connor Tennis Facility. FASST Club — The FASST Track Club will be hosting a summer program in the Dubuque area for all age levels this summer. The youth club is for athletes ages 12-and-under, the high school club is for athletes ages 13-17 and the college/open club is for high school graduates and those 18-and-over. The summer program includes eight practice sessions, three USATF-sanctioned meets and two group sessions at Building Better Athletes. The club meets at the University of Dubuque track.
