It’s the first long weekend of the year, and the weather doesn’t look too promising.

For me, that means a little more time at the track.

Iowa Greyhound Park will host races tonight and matinees Saturday through Monday.

There are plenty of top grade races scheduled. And, a stakes caps off the weekend.

On Memorial Day, the Memorial Sprint takes place. The one-turn drag race will feature eight 3/16ths runners, as selected by the racing secretary. The purse is $500, with $250 to the winner.

RF Shadow Fox has the season’s best time with 17.91. O Ya Money Money won an earlier matchup.

Other top sprinters are Tahas Mayhem and Russell Wilson.

The field will be announced during the weekend.

Boc’s Jennyfinch won last year.

Most tracks will offer racing all weekend, with stakes on the agenda at several sites. Catch the stakes lineup below.
