Students, staff and visitors to another Dubuque school will be required to wear masks starting Thursday, Nov. 18, due to COVID-19 activity.

Officials notified Table Mound Elementary School families and staff today that the number of active, positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff at the building had exceeded the 3% threshold set by school board members to require masks.

As of this afternoon, there were 15 active cases at Table Mound -- 14 among students and one among staff, according to the Dubuque Community Schools' COVID-19 tracking dashboard.

Table Mound is the district's fifth school to implement a masking requirement since board members approved the policy last month. Temporary mask mandates previously have been implemented at Lincoln, Sageville and Hoover elementary schools, as well as at George Washington Middle School, where the campus positivity remained above 3% this afternoon.

At Table Mound, masks will be required of those who do not have an exemption until the positivity rate at the school falls below 3%, a message sent to families and staff states.

Districtwide, there were 151 active, positive COVID-19 cases among students as of this afternoon, plus another 33 among staff.
