Michael Bennet, 54, is a Democratic member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Colorado. A moderate Bennet is known for bipartisanship.
Bennet was appointed to the Senate in 2009 and won a full term in 2010. He won re-election in 2016, beating Darryl Glenn (R) by nearly 6 percentage points.
Prior to joining the Senate, Bennet had served as the superintendent for Denver Public Schools from 2005 to 2009 and was chief of staff for Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper (D) from 2003 to 2005.
