UPDATE

SHERRILL, Iowa — Authorities said this afternoon that a woman was found dead inside a Dubuque County home struck by fire Wednesday night.

Lisa Kloft, 53, was found dead inside the home at 16617 S. Mound Road, according to a Dubuque County Sheriff's Department press release. Capt. Harley Pothoff said Kloft's body was taken to the Iowa Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, which will determine the cause and manner of her death.

Authorities responded to the home at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday after a fire was reported. Flames and heavy smoke were spotted coming from the residence at times.

When firefighters extinguished the blaze, they discovered Kloft, authorities said. She lived at the residence with John Oglesby, 52.

Oglesby was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque and later flown to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City for the treatment of his injuries, the release said. Pothoff said Oglesby sustained burns and smoke inhalation and is expected to survive.

Authorities have not been able to question Oglesby yet, Pothoff said this afternoon.

Online property records state the residence is owned by a John J. Oglesby, though Pothoff could not confirm if the house's owner was the man who was injured.

The release said the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation. The Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office is involved in the investigation.
