Applications accepted for college scholarship
The Dubuque Soil and Water Conservation District commissioners are accepting applications for their $1,000 Father Norman White Memorial college scholarship.
It will be awarded to a student enrolling into an agricultural or natural resources-related field at the University of Dubuque, Clarke University, Loras College, University of Wisconsin Platteville, Iowa State University or Northeast Iowa Community College — Peosta or Calmar campus — for the 2019-20 school year.
Applications are available at the district’s office, through local high schools and at the above listed schools. Applications need to be received in the district office by Saturday, March 30, to be eligible for consideration.

Farmers market vendor training scheduled
Viewing for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program and webinar training for new and returning farmers market vendors will take place at various Iowa sites on Thursdays March 28 or April 11.
In cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will provide the training at these area sites:

The Congressionally authorized programs provide fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from farmers markets and farm stands to nutritionally at-risk women, infants, children and low-income seniors.
