I made a judgment error in posting Randall Enos’s editorial cartoon regarding the Las Vegas tragedy on TelegraphHerald.com Monday morning. I am confident that it was not cartoonist Randall Enos’s intent to make light of the tragedy or offend anyone, and it certainly was not ours. But we did.

My take was that Enos conveyed a somber contrast between the monumental act of violence with a city generally associated with (and marketed as) "fun." However, many readers have made it clear to me that I was wrong. The cartoon was taken down shortly before noon Monday after being on the site two hours.

I apologize for posting the cartoon and for upsetting and offending our readers.
