The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for tonight for four local counties.

The watch runs from 7 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Saturday and covers an area that includes Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties in Iowa.

"Heavy rain may result in flooding of low-lying or poor drainage areas and flash flooding on creeks and streams," states the weather service, noting that 1 to 2 inches of additional rain is expected "with locally higher amounts possible."
