Untreated wastewater flowed into a Dubuque creek Monday.

A clogged sanitary sewer manhole caused the overflow into Catfish Creek in an off-road area between Patricia Anne Drive and Miller Road, the City of Dubuque announced in a press release Tuesday.

The release states that crews were notified of the problem at about 4:30 p.m. Monday and removed the blockage and restored the normal flow by 8 p.m.

Residents are urged to keep children and pets away from the area for 48 hours.
