Thunderstorms brought heavy rain and damaging winds overnight to portions of the tri-state area.

Winds toppled two 2-foot-diameter trees a mile north of Dubuque, according to reports submitted to the National Weather Service.

The storm also dumped 1.35 inches of rain on the Dubuque area. A trained spotter Rickardsville, Iowa, reported 1.84 inches had fallen from the storms as of about 6 a.m.

Tree limbs were broken and shingles blown off in Burton, Wis., an unincorporated community in the Town of Waterloo in Grant County, and the weather service reported a 51-mph wind gust reported in Nora, Ill., a village in eastern Jo Daviess County.
