MARQUETTE, Iowa — A new Marquette City Council member was appointed this week.

Council members voted unanimously to appoint Dave Schneider to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Pam Brodie-Fitzgerald last month.

Schneider was one of two residents to submit a letter of interest for the position, according to city documents. He will serve in the role through Dec. 31.

The position will be on the Nov. 5 ballot, and the winner’s term will start at the beginning of next year.
