FARLEY, Iowa — A Dubuque County bar’s UTV benefit ride raised more than $11,000 for brain tumor and heart defect research.

Dirty Ernie’s in Farley recently held its second annual benefit for Research for the Kids and raised $11,290, according to the local group that raises money for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s research into brain tumors and heart defects.

Participants rode to Two Gingers Tavern & Eatery in Cascade and then returned to Farley. More than 600 people rode in the event.

Research for the Kids’ 13th annual ride will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, starting at Happy’s Place in Dubuque. The group has raised more than $1.8 million for the Iowa City hospital since 2009.
