ASBURY, Iowa — Police said three juveniles were apprehended after they led law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit from Asbury to Galena, Ill., early Monday that ended when their vehicle hit spike strips.
Asbury Police Chief Tom Henneberry said the pursuit began at about 1:50 a.m. Monday on Antler Ridge Drive in Asbury and ended outside of Galena on U.S. 20.
“It started as a vehicle with no (license) plates,” Henneberry said. “The vehicle failed to stop, and (the pursuit) continued that far until we were able to spike-strip the tires.”
He added that two of the juveniles in the vehicle were apprehended right away, but one ran from the scene and had to be pursued by a K-9.
Henneberry said he believed the juveniles all had been released as of midday, but charges for eluding and traffic violations were pending.
He also said there were drugs found in the vehicle, but he did not have additional information available related to their discovery or possible related charges.
