League of Women Voters of Jo Daviess County will hold a public forum for the candidates seeking to be Jo Daviess County’s state’s attorney.

The event is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Galena Middle School. Incumbent John Hay, a Republican, and challenger Ron Leinen, a Democrat, are vying for the seat.

Bonnie Cox, president of the local league, said moderators and members of the audience will ask questions.

“We want to focus on the issues,” Cox said. “We’re giving the public the opportunity to hear from both of them.”

She said the league already plans to ask the candidates about how they plan to improve the role of the state’s attorney, along with how they plan on improving their relationship with the “Hispanic communities” of the county.
