Wildfires in Canada have been impacting air quality in Dubuque and surrounding areas, which could hurt sensitive residents, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Iowa DNR Ambient Air Monitoring Officer Todd Russell said Wednesday that smoke particles from the fires have been affecting air quality in Iowa for some time and could continue as the fires burn. But he said the worst of the current haze should begin to dissipate the morning of Friday, May 26.
