MANCHESTER, Iowa — The West Delaware High School volleyball team recently made a big impact with a cancer awareness fundraiser.

The team held its Cancer Awareness Night last month during a match. “Believe in a cure” shirts were designed and available for purchase through Momentum Screen Prints. Proceeds from shirt sales and monetary donations collected that night totaled $1,068, which was presented to Regional Medical Center’s radiology staff for their breast cancer support bags.

A Facebook fundraiser also was created and raised $1,401 for American Cancer Society.

The West Delaware team and coaches played in honor or memory of someone who has battled cancer and wore a hair ribbon that matched the color of their person’s type of cancer.
