EDMUND, Wis. -- One person was killed and two people were injured -- one seriously -- in a head-on crash Wednesday in Iowa County.

Jesse Monigold, 41, of Dodgeville, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Iowa County Sheriff's Department. William Kasbohm, 60, of Montfort, was airlifted to a Madison hospital with serious injuries. His 15-year-old passenger, whose name was not released, was taken by ambulance to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

The crash occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 18 near Sinbad Road, which is between Edmund and Dodgeville. A press release states that Monigold was westbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a truck driven by Kasbohm, who had to be extricated from his vehicle.

The highway was closed for hours while authorities responded to and then investigated the wreck. The sheriff's department was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team.

The release states that "speed and alcohol are not considered to be a factor" in the crash.
