PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Authorities said an intoxicated driver caused a head-on crash Friday near Platteville, leaving two people injured.

Jennifer Day, 47, of Stitzer, and Jerald Thomas, 61, of Garnavillo, Iowa, were taken by ambulance to Southwest Health in Platteville for treatment, according to a press release issued late Sunday night by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash occurred at about 4:50 p.m. Friday about 2 miles north of Platteville. A few minutes before the wreck, law enforcement received complaints of an errant driver heading south on Wisconsin 80 north of Platteville, the release stated.

It then stated that Day was southbound and driving in the wrong lane of traffic when she crashed head on into a northbound dump truck driven by Thomas. Day had to be extricated from her vehicle.

Day was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing injury and cited with operating left of center.
