The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced the preliminary number of deer hunted in local counties and statewide license sale totals for the opening weekend of this year's gun deer season.

As of Sunday, Nov. 20, 779,123 gun, bow, crossbow, sports and patron hunting licenses had been sold statewide, according to a Wisconsin DNR press release. This marks a 2% decrease for deer hunting licenses from the same time period last year.
