Three years after a Dubuque teen was shot and killed, police still await more information to make arrests in the case.
Police said Marlon T. Barber Jr., 15, was shot in the chest and stomach Oct. 20, 2012, as he and friends were walking to a party in the area of 21st and Jackson streets. Barber died of his injuries at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Dubuque Police Department Lt. Scott Baxter said the case still is open, but there has been little movement or new information in the years after the shooting.
“The people with the information are not cooperating,” he said.
Baxter said investigators have identified potential suspects, but there is not sufficient information to refer to the county attorney’s office that they be charged. Some of the people that police believed were involved have faced or are facing charges for serious offenses in other jurisdictions, he added.
“It’s frustrating for us, but we haven’t forgotten about (Barber),” Baxter said.
