EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. — Eugene J. “Gary” Mulgrew, 83, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Ennoble Manor Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20th at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Shullsburg, WI, with Fr. Peter Lee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 — 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, and from 9:45 — 10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Gary was born on February 16, 1940 in Dubuque, IA, the son of William E. “Bill” and Eleanor C. Mulgrew. He was united in marriage to Ellen Ann Cherry — Meyer on August 13, 1987 in Jo Daviess County, IL, with Fr. James Lins officiating.

Gary formerly operated several night clubs and taverns in the Tri-State area. He loved fishing and traveling, and was a graduate of Galena High School, class of 1958.
Surviving is his wife Ann, a step-son, Michael ( Ayla) Meyer of East Dubuque; three grandchildren, Zachary, Emma and Nolan; and a great grandson, Sebastian.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Eleanor Mulgrew.
