Dubuque Wahlert’s Aliyah Carter was named the Class 4A Player of the Year on Tuesday with the release of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association all-state teams.

The honors keep rolling in for Dubuque Wahlert’s Aliyah Carter.

The junior Golden Eagle was named Iowa Class 4A player of the year by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association, which released its annual all-state teams today. Carter’s coach, Lindsey Beaves, was named 4A coach of the year.

Wahlert won its third straight state championship and 20th as a program on Nov. 9 in Cedar Rapids. Carter was named captain of the 4A all-tournament team for the second straight season, and finished second in the state, regardless of class, with 550 total kills.

Golden Eagles teammate Carolyn Conlon joined Carter with first-team all-state honors in 4A. Conlon, a senior, was placed on the 4A all-tournament team alongside Carter following Wahlert’s championship win.

In Class 5A, Dubuque Hempstead’s Jada Wills earned her second consecutive second-team all-state honor.

The Class 2A team heavily featured Dyersville Beckman, which finished 44-4 and advanced to the state semifinals. Trailblazers setter Sydney Steffen earned a first-team selection after leading the state with 1,209 assists. Steffen was named to the 2A all-tournament team as well earlier this month.

Beckman’s Heather Boeckenstedt and Ellie Bildstein were named to the second team, and fellow Blazer Isabelle Bennett received honorable mention.

In 1A, Edgewood-Colesburg’s Kelsi Askeland was named honorable mention all-state.
